Our History

The Greater Trinity Academy (GTA), which has been in operation since 1999, was founded by Mr. Paul A. Stoot, Sr.   GTA is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and is only closed for Federal Holidays.  We have a licensed capacity for 75 children.  In addition to classroom instruction, students are provided with a well balanced, nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack that are in compliance with both federal and state nutrition requirements.

Where are our children coming from?

Kindergarten class at GTCLAThe majority of our children are coming from the working poor to moderate-income brackets. We have a diverse make-up of children from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and economic levels. There are a number of students who are from single parent homes or whose parents receive financial assistance from the State of Washington. Unfortunately, many of these children are the students that fall between the cracks in the public school systems.

These are children that will do well because of our commitment to providing high quality education for all children. Our school motto for all students is, "I Can Learn Anything!" This motto is reinforced daily in all classrooms and programs. We specialize in guiding at-risk children and youth with our Operation Latchkey program. Some of the children who come to us have experienced significant learning difficulties. We work individually and intensively with them and their parents/guardians to change attitudes and overcome problems. Children who have had problems learning come here and we are able to work with them and their parents to change their attitude toward learning. Some children have even been dismissed from other programs.

We are a private school licensed through the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction with Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten with First and even Second Grade materials being taught.   We track every classroom by the benchmarks of the State of Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and National standards for what children should learn at appropriate ages.  We intend to expand our program/grade levels that we offer to eventually include first through fifth grade. The GTA is located in south Everett, Washington. This south Everett vicinity is served primarily by the Mukilteo School District, and to a lesser extent, by the Everett School District.

GTA's families bring diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds. Many families are headed by single parents and 95% receive financial assistance from WA State DSHS based on low-income status. Our Academy population consist of 80% non-white children of whom 55% are African-American, 5% Asian, 10% Latino, 5% Native American and 5% mixed ethnicity. Many of our children have special needs - 25% have Limited English Proficiency or learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD and behavioral disabilities
