Terry Metcalf

Curriculum Specialist & Lead Kindergarten Teacher

Dr. Terry Metcalf is a former professional gridiron football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). He decided to take the life lessons that he had experienced on the football field and take them to the classroom, where he has been making touchdowns in the education field for more than 30 years.  He started his education career working at Zion Preparatory Academy, and he has been an integral part of Rise Up Academy since the school’s inception. He served as an instructional coach to the staff for 11 years before joining the staff at Rise Up Academy full-time 12 years agoAt Rise Up Academy, Dr. Terry is the Curriculum Specialist and Lead Kindergarten Teacher where he has been coaching teachers and coaching students on the field as young as three years old to read, by navigating a nationally known curriculum.  He recently took up gardening and is an associate Pastor in the Seattle area.  He is married to Lanette, and they have 5 adult children and 6 grandchildren.  His older son (Terrance) followed in his father’s footsteps and played professional football.  They have also been foster parents to several children over the years.  In their spare time, Dr. Terry and his wife also enjoy taking cruises.
